flagVeterans and those on active duty are eligible for assortment of freebies and deals in South Florida for Veterans Day.

Almost all the deals from local and national businesses are offered November 11, although some stretch for a few days, or are on a different day.

Some deals may be either specifically for veterans or for active duty personnel, and participation at individual establishments may vary. It’s a good idea to phone first, or read the requirements, to be sure about a particular offer.  Most restaurants and other merchants  require appropriate military ID.

  • Restaurant deals:
    • Applebee’s: Veterans and active duty military receive a FREE signature entrée from a limited menu.
    • Bob Evans: FREE all-you-can-eat pancakes.
    • California Pizza Kitchen: Veterans and active duty military get a FREE entrée from a limited menu.
    • Carrabba’s: Free appetizer (Customer’s choice) for active and retired military members who show proof of service (either in uniform or a military ID). No purchase required.
    • Denny’s: FREE Build Your Own Grand Slam from 5 a.m. to noon.Famous Dave’s: FREE One Meat Salute (one meat, a corn muffin and a side) from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
    • Fuddruckers: FREE All-American burger with fries for active and retired military personnel. (Valid with any beverage purchase of $1.99 or more.)
    • Golden Corral: Golden Corral’s annual Military Appreciation Dinner on Monday, Nov. 17 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Get a FREE meal.
    • Hooters: Veterans and active duty military personnel get a FREE entrée. Drink purchase required.
    • IHOP: Free Red, White, and Blue pancakes from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
    • McCormick & Schmick’s: Veterans are offered a FREE meal from a limited menu on Sunday, Nov. 9.
    • Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt: FREE 6-oz. frozen yogurt.
    • Miami Subs, half price for military personnel and veterans
    • Olive Garden: FREE entrée from a limited menu.
    • On the Border: Veterans and active duty military receive a FREE “Create Your Own Combo” meal, featuring more than 150 possible dinner combinations.
    • Outback Steakhouse: Free Bloomin’ Onion and a beverage.
    • Red Robin: FREE Tavern Double burger with Bottomless Steak Fries.
    • Ruby Tuesday: FREE appetizer.
    • Shoney’s: FREE All-American burger.
    • Sizzler: FREE lunch until 4 p.m. (six-ounce Tri Tip Steak, single Malibu Chicken or half-dozen fried shrimp). The free meal includes a beverage (coffee, iced tea or fountain drink). Available at participating locations.
    • Smokey Bones: FREE entrée from a limited menu.
    • Starbucks: Free tall, 12-ounce brewed coffee for veterans, active military and spouses.
    • Texas Roadhouse: FREE lunch for all veterans (active, retired or former U.S. military) from a limited menu.


    • Young At Art Museum in Davie regularly offers discounted entry fee of $11 to military families
    • Florida State Parks offer free entry for everyone November 11
    • Butterfly World offers free entry for active duty personnel and veterans with identification November 11; the attraction is in Tradewinds Park, 3600 W. Sample Road, Coconut Creek
    • AARP: Get 20% off your AARP membership dues; a portion of your dues will be used to help provide RealPad™ computer tablets to veterans to help them stay connected.
    • Buckle: Get 10% off online purchases every day.
    • Car Wash: Veterans and service personnel get a FREE car wash.
    • Great Clips: FREE haircut for veterans and active duty military. If you don’t need a haircut, stop by and pick up a card good for a free haircut through Dec. 31.
    • Musician’s Friend: Through Nov. 11, get 10% off an order of $99 or more or 15% off an order or $399 or more. Use the coupon code Veterans14.
    • National Parks: On Veterans Day, National Parks are FREE for everyone, so this might be a good time for a road trip.
    • Publix: 10% discount for active and retired military personnel and their family members.
    • Red Roof Inn: Get 15% off during the entire month of November.
