You know it’s the height of the season when there are so many free events it’s hard to find time to write about them, let alone go to them all. Here are some of this weekend’s free activities in Broward:
* Mardi Gras Fiesta Tropicale & Fat Tuesday on Hollywood Beach. Music by Iko Iko, plus a Dixieland bad, 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at Johnson Street and Ocean Drive. More festivities Saturday, Feb. 21 through Tuesday, Feb. 24.
* Hollywood Art Walk. Visit galleries and shops in downtown Hollywood while enjoying art, cultural entertainment & hors d’oeuvres. 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, downtown Hollywood. Pick up a map at Comfort Zone Studio & Spa, 2028 Harrison St.
* Kijiji Moja, which means “one village” in Swahili, is a family event featuring ethnic crafts, storytelling and live stage performances. Featured performers include Mocko Jumbie Stilt Dancers, Ballet Brika, and poetry by Sista Vanya, plus school and neighborhood groups. Joseph C. Carter Park, 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 1450 W. Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale.
* Mardi Gras Fete at Whole Foods in Fort Lauderdale. Food demonstrations and samples, Mardi Gras “cart parade” through the store at 1:30 p.m. At noon, kids can make a Mardi Gras mask. 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, Whole Foods Market, 2000 N. Federal Hwy., Fort Lauderdale.
