For relatively inexpensive travel around Hollywood downtown’s area and Hollywood’s beach, Hollywood offers a trolley.
The trolley usually runs Wednesdays to Sundays, but is adding some extra days, including December 27, January 2 and January 3 to its routes.
The fee is $1 and free for kids ages 5 and younger.

The Hollywood office that promotes the beach and downtown districts is showcasing some deals on lodging.

* The Ramada Hollywood Beach, 101 N. Ocean Drive, is offering 10 percent off a two-night stay, 15 percent off a three night stay and 20 percent off five nights or more.

Hollywood Beach is the site of an interesting pro sports event . The sport is footvolley, described as a hybrid blend of soccer and volleyball.
The action is May 7 to May 9, with free admission to matches on Friday, May 7, noon to 6 p.m.
The Pro FootVolley World Cup events, featuring teams from USA, Europe and Brazil, are at 300 Connecticut St., Hollywood, 305-213-3275.
Enjoy Fat Tuesday on Hollywood Beach. Free entertainment includes music performed by IKO IKO and New Orleans singer and funk guitarist Marcel Anton.

The annual Clambake, a music and seafood festival, is on the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk, east of A1A off Johnson Street.
The event, which features an assortment of free family entertainment, is Friday to Sunday Oct. 16 to 18. Browse the line-up of activities, on this website.
Paid parking is available at the Johnson Street municipal garage and surface lots, at the Oceanwalk Mall next to the Ramada Inn Hollywood Beach Resort at Hollywood Boulevard and A1A, and at the Garfield Street Parking Garage at Connecticut Street and A1A.
Other festival highlights include a Classic Car show, a a Brazilian Samba Parade, Bahamian Junkanoo Parade, the Best Chowder Contest and a Clam Chowder Crawl along Hollywood Beach’s Restaurant Row.

Hollywood Beach will be filled with free music this weekend as the seventh Red White & Bluegrass festival fills multiple stages Friday, May 8, Saturday, May 9, and Sunday, May 10.
Country music icon Patty Loveless will headline this year’s festival, with a free concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 10, on the Main Stage, on the beach just north of the Ramada Hollywood Beach Resort.
Hours are 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, noon to 9 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Brazil on the Beach continues through Sunday with free music on several stages and the final matches of Footvolley competition.

You can spend the weekend in Brazil without leaving Florida as Brazil on the Beach comes to Hollywood Beach Friday, March 20, through Sunday, March 22, for a free celebration of Brazilian music and sports.
Brazilian superstar Daniela Mercury, an international pop star and Grammy winner, will share the rhythms of her native Bahia in a free concert at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 21, on the beach east of Connecticut Street. There are a limited number of VIP tickets available for $40; click here for details.
The concert will climax an exciting weekend of world-class Footvolley competition, compliments of the Second Annual Pro Footvolley Tour Hollywood Beach Open, featuring many of the demanding sport’s greatest competitors. Footvolley combines elements of beach volleyball and soccer. This new professional tour, launched on Hollywood Beach in 2008, features the best players in the United States competing against international guests. Matches will be all three days on the beach between Polk and Buchanan.
Free music will fill several stages Friday night, Saturday and Sunday.
Hollywood’s annual Mardi Gras celebration will keep the Broadwalk jumping through Tuesday.
Mardi Gras Fiesta Tropicale & Fat Tuesday on the Beach celebration features free music all day, every day, plus food for purchase and other activities. On Saturday, Feb. 22, entertainment take place on four stages.
Entertainers will include Iko Iko, Funky Blues Messiahs, Inner City All Stars, Kermit Ruffins, Lil Brian & The Travelers, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Cowboy Mouth and many others.

* Kijiji Moja, which means “one village” in Swahili, is a family event featuring ethnic crafts, storytelling and live stage performances. Featured performers include Mocko Jumbie Stilt Dancers, Ballet Brika, and poetry by Sista Vanya, plus school and neighborhood groups. Joseph C. Carter Park, 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 1450 W.
