flagSkydiving demonstrations are among the highlights of free events in Fort Lauderdale.

Honoring the military and veterans is the focus of the Stars, Stripes and Sun events, which feature precision skydiving displays performed by the U.S. Army Golden Knights parachute team.

  • Dolphins Day Pep Rally — free event  5 p.m. to 8 p.m. September 14 at Huizenga Plaza on Las Olas Boulevard and Andrews Avenue in Fort Lauderdale. Includes music and food trucks. The skydiving exhibition is at 6 p.m.
  • Saturday Night Alive  — free event 7  p.m. to 11 p.m. September 15 on A1A and Las Olas Bouevard, Fort Lauderdale. Entertainment includes fire dancers, jazz, rock, reggae, rhythm and blues and tropical music. The skydiving demonstration is 8:30 p.m.

    • As part of the festivities,  Sun Trolley is offering free fares for military personnel, September 14 to September 16. For information about Sun Trolley, 954-761-3543

Free country music festival in Deerfield

Various bands and artists are featured in a free outdoor entertainment event at the beach in Deerfield Beach.

Bring your own  portable seats or towels and soak up the music at the main beach parking lot on Southeast 21st Avenue.

The country music festival presented by the Deerfield Beach Parks and Recreation Department is noon to  9 p.m. August 4.  Food is available for purchase. Parking fees apply.

Enjoy a free solo piano recital at the Broward Library.

The event features pianist Sara Daneshpour is April 28  3 p.m. at the Broward Main Library, 100 S. Andrews Ave., Fort Lauderdale.

The concert also is performed 3 p.m. April 29 at Granada Presbyterian Church, 950 University Drive, Coral Gables.
