For those who are enjoying a day off of work and school, several free events are offered in Broward.
Various municipalities are offering activities and parades for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which is January 21
Here are some of the events.
- Fort Lauderdale: parade and performances by high school marching bands; parade and non-violence march is 10:30 a.m. from Elementary School, 591 NW 31 Avenue to Dillard High School, 2501 NW 11th Street. At the high school, about 11:30 a.m. marching bands perform, 954-828-5435 or 954-828-8945
- Deerfield Beach: parade through several roads at 10 a.m. and activities and entertainment during the day at Westside Park, 445 SW Second St. Free shuttle from Pioneer Park, 954-480-4429
- Pompano Beach: parade on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard at 9 am; activities at Blanche Ely High School at 11 a.m., 954-786-4585
- Everglades National Parks and other national parks are free on January 21.

Several towns are offering festivities for St. Patrick’s Day, including Hollywood.
The Fort Lauderdale St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival
Kids activities and entertainment are featured at this event, which is free with paid entry to the park.
