Festivals, parades and other Black History events in Broward

Festival organizers, libraries and galleries in Broward offer engaging events, live entertainment & exhibits focusing on Black History.

Lots of events, performances and exhibits are featured in February  for Black History Month.  Plenty of the events are free.

There are also Black History Month events in Palm Beach County, some of which are worth traveling for.

Black History events in 2026 include

Soul Fest in Oakland Park

 Entry is free entry for Soul Fest in Oakland Park  6 p.m. – 10 p.m. Friday February 6 with live entertainment and food trucks offering food and drinks for purchase.

The venue is Pastorius Park, 4000 N. Dixie Highway, Oakland Park. Parking is free. 

Black Excellence Parade and Festival in Lauderdale Lakes 

Parade with marching bands is 9 a.m. Saturday, February 7 from Boyd Anderson High School, 3050 NW 41st St., Lauderdale Lakes. The festival with entertainment and food vendors is at Torres Park, 4331 NW 36th St., Lauderdale Lakes. Information is on the website

Event at Riverland Park in Fort Lauderdale 

Black History event 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. February 7 with dance performances and other entertainment at Riverland Park, 954-828-5320, 950 SW 27th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale 33312.

Nicole Yarling in Pompano

Vocalist and Violinist Nicole Yarling performs in Pompano Beach & it's free

Vocalist and violinist Nicole Yarling performs 7:30 p.m. Thursday, February 19 with free reservations offered online

The venue is Pompano Cultural Center, 50 W. Atlantic Boulevard, Pompano Beach 33060. The performance includes Gold Coast Jazz Society Band. 

Tunes ‘N Trucks in Sunrise

BellaDiva performs Motown hits February 20 at Tunes ‘N Trucks in Sunrise.

Band is at 7 p.m. and food trucks set up at 6 p.m. and entry and parking are free.

The venue is City Park, 6600 Sunset Strip 33313. 

Musical Journey at African-American Library in Fort Lauderdale

Performance is 7 p.m. Friday, February 20, at the African-American Library, 2650 Sistrunk Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale. Entry is free. Register online

Kijiji Moja in Fort Lauderdale 

Entertainment and vendors are featured at the Black History event 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, February 21, at Lincoln Park, 600 NW 19th Ave, Fort Lauderdale 33311.

Tiger Trail Parade & Festival in Pompano

Live performers and drum lines from local high schools are included at the Tiger Trail parade and festival 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, February 21, in Pompano Beach. Tiger Trail festivities are at  MLK Jr. Boulevard and Northwest Sixth Avenue, Pompano Beach 33060.

Free film in Miramar

Nab reservations for free tickets for the movie “King Richard” 7 p.m. Saturday, February 21, with registration required online.  

The event is at the Cultural Center, 2400 Civic Center Place, Miramar.

Outside food and drinks are not permitted. 

Dania Beach 

Black History event is 5 p.m. February 24 with entertainment. The venue is Dania City Hall, 100 W. Dania Beach Blvd., Dania Beach 33004. RSVP by February 19 at DBSpecialEvents@DaniaBeachFL.gov is required.

Hollywood 

Black History event at MLK Jr. recreation is 6 p.m. February 26 in Hollywood and entry is free. The venue is at 2400 Charleston St., Hollywood.

Sistrunk Parade and Street Festival in Fort Lauderdale

The Sistrunk parade 8:30 a.m. Saturday, February 28, features step teams, floats and vintage vehicles. The route Northwest 17th Avenue to Northwest 10th Avenue on Sistrunk Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale 33311.

The festival 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. February 28 is on Sistrunk Boulevard from Northwest Ninth Avenue to Northwest 14th Terrace.  The event  features live bands, games, and vendors. A Kid's Zone is included.

Entertainment includes: 

  • 4 p.m. Larry Dogg Band
  • 5:15 p.m. Dwight Moment and Symphony
  • 7 p.m. KeKe Wyatt

Orchestra at West Regional Library in Plantation 

Broward Chamber Orchestra is featured in a Black History-theme performance 4 p.m. February 28 at the West Regional Library, 8601 W. Broward Blvd. 33324. Information is on the library website
