You can get free trees and plants at drive-up events at regional parks. But Water Matters distributions require residents to register and choose their free plants online.

Participating residents select from a list of available trees, shrubs, and other plants, with a maximum of 1 fruit tree per household. Each family can choose two trees or shrubs (3-gallon container, maximum one fruit tree) OR eight groundcovers/sod alternatives (1 gallon container, maximum two plant species) OR one three-gallon tree or shrub and four one-gallon gallon plants (one species only, no mix and match).

Water Matters Day, is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 14
The informative and fun exhibits, activities and demonstrations focus on protecting water as a precious resource. Information about Florida-friendly vegetation for yards, entertainment and kids’ activities are part of the event.
Weekend entry fees at the park are $1.50 for ages 6 and older and free for kids age 5 and younger. Tree Tops Park is at 3900 SW 100th Avenue, Davie 33328.
Earning a free tree — or trees — is relatively easy for Broward residents attending the event. Walk around and gather stamp marks on a flyer from different exhibitor booths.
When the number of required stamps is reached, residents select their pick from a wide array of trees, shrubs and other plants, while supplies last. The offer is 2 per family.
