Free Film & Bonus At Comedy-A-Thon

The emphasis is on humor at this film festival Labor Day weekend in Fort Lauderdale.
The event includes a free movie. This is Spinal Tap, directed by Rob Reiner, is being screened in the Paradiso Patio Courtyard at Cinema Paradiso, Sunday Sept. 5 at 10 p.m.
About 14 other films are part of the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival Comedy-A-Thon Sunday and Monday at Cinema Paradiso, 503 SE Sixth St., Fort Lauderdale.
With ticket purchases, movie-goers receive a bonus — a voucher for free entry to the New York Comedy Club in Boca Raton.
The price per film is $3 for the public and $1 for members of the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival (FLIFF). Weekend passes for access to all films are $15 for the public and $10 for FLIFF members.

It’s time for another contest!
We have several copies of the DVD of Season 1 of the NBC TV series “Parenthood” to give away. This DVD was just released today, Aug. 31.
Here’s the description of the show:
Parenthood introduces us to the very large, very colorful and imperfect Braverman family. Single mother Sarah and her two children Amber and Drew moving back home with her parents Zeek and Camille. Sarah’s sister and complete antithesis, Julia, is a successful corporate attorney trying to juggle work and motherhood, alongside her stay-at-home husband, Joel. With the pass, you get unlimited visits to the Seaquarium, the zoo and Lion Country Safari, through Sept. 30, plus one visit to Wannado City.

joy browsing the work of artists and artisans at a free event in the entry area of Flamingo Gardens in Davie.
The front area of the venue — where the art fair is based on Monday, Sept. 6 — doesn’t require paying admission.
If you’d like to also enjoy other activities that day, you’ll save some money.
Admission to Flamingo Gardens is half price Monday, Sept. 6, for the The Everglades Bird Festival, which includes guided tours of the open-air aviary, bird presentations and lectures on birds and birding during.
The half-price entry fees are $8.50 for adults, $4.25 for ages 4 to 11, and free for younger kids.
